Cubs - February and March
I just came back from a cruise vacation and I've been slacking off alot these past weeks (but I did have lot's of fun). Okay, enough about me ...
What a great two months we had. Our pack had 2 big outings in February: Ice Fishing and our Winter Camp. We also went ice skating at Parc Simon one night, which was fun too.
In March we started our Kub Kars for the up-coming race this weekend (April 1st) . We also had a fun and relaxed outing at CampJJ where we just enjoyed the sun and nature. The kids were very impressive and got camp fires going without any help from the leaders except constructive encouragement (haha). They also got to use their pocket knives alot by whitling a wiener stick and also for a craft that we did that day.
Ice Fishing:
We went ice fishing on Saturday Feb. 11th at Clarence Point (where the old ferry used to be). We had a pretty good turnout. Akela's nephew (I think ??) was nice enough to lend us his shack for the day. He also went early in the morning and drilled 20 holes for us.
Chill brought some chili for lunch. We had snacks and juice too. Even though we didn't catch any fish, the kids had lots of fun and they learned a bit about fishing. For some of them, it was the first time ice fishing and even the first time fishing altogether.

Winter Camp:
Our winter camp is the highlight of the year so far ...
It was held at a place called Sonshine Cove at Lac Corbeau near Notre-Dame du Laus, Quebec.
We did all sorts of activities: crafts (leather frame, sundial), toboganning, ice fishing, hicking, skating and "burling" and of course the famed "Fear Factor" event.
Almost all of the cubs were there (we were missing two out of 15). We had two scouts with us and 11 parents (leaders included). The crew were great. One guy cleaned the snow off the lake so we could skate, he also supplied the hole digger and the worms for fishing. The food was excellent. No got hurt, except a few wet feet during the hike. Most importantly, the kids had fun so in my opinion the weekend was a total success. :o)
Here are some pics of the camp.
Up and coming : we have our Kub Kar rally this weekend. There's the senior cub camp. A linking sleepover with whitetail beavers. Take a look at our calendar for more details (although it needs a bit of updating)
